The Importance of Being Earnest Comes to the Common

The Walpole Players are back!

We hope you will come out to see our staged reading of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, on Saturday, September 12, at 5:00 PM, on the Walpole Town Common.

Cecily (Jenny Plante) and Gwendolen (Juliana Stevens) have an earnest discussion over tea.

This witty comedy about the trivialities of late Victorian society is sure to be a lot of fun! The performance is free and open to the public. Please remember to bring your choice of seating (lawn chair, blanket, etc.).

The Players will be using a sound system at this performance. Since it will be outdoors it would be difficult for the audience to hear us otherwise.

In the case of inclement weather, the performance will take place the following Saturday, September 19.

Please email or call (603) 756-2535 for further information, or check back here on our website. In the case of inclement weather, a decision whether to postpone will be posted no later than 2:00 PM on the day of the performance.

Please note that all social distancing requirements and guidelines will apply. Family/friend groups should seat themselves at least six feet from other groups; if it is not possible to maintain a six-foot separation while seated, masks must be worn if attendance reaches 100 people or more, per the governor’s Emergency Order #63.
