Theater Work Party, June 28th from 2-4pm

The Walpole Players are planning an afternoon theater work party this Sunday, June 28 from 2-4pm and would love some helping hands!

There are a variety of tasks to tackle as we prepare for our next season, including:

  • Clearing the stage and moving furniture and flats to make way for the next production (November 13-15: I Don’t Have a Clue – mark your calendars!!) – this is our top priority
  • Organizing backstage areas, tool closet and basement storage vault
  • Taking a look at our collection of scripts in anticipation of staged readings – more on that below!

Whether you can stay for the whole time or just stop by for a while, your help would be greatly appreciated. Many hands make light work! And it’s always more fun when we do it together. In the spirit of the “community” part of community theater, feel free to bring along a little nibble to share if you want – some fresh fruit, cookies, crackers or whatever is in your pantry. Nothing fancy and don’t feel obligated, but a little snack always makes a work party more enjoyable!

Those interested may also spend some time looking through our script collection to choose a play for the first of hopefully several staged readings! We will decide a date based on interest. A staged reading is a relaxed and informal gathering where people can bring a play to life through reading it aloud, without memorization or costumes. It’s a great way to explore a play to get ideas for the future, practice performance skills and just enjoy some theater with friends. We’re going to gauge interest and see if this can become a series of events. We will announce future dates as they are confirmed!

We hope you’ll join us on June 28 for an afternoon of theater housekeeping, conversation and a little creative planning.
