ATTENTION! Auditions will be held April 1, 2, and 3 for the Walpole Players’ production for Old Home Days 2014. Performances will be the last two weekends in June. This year’s play, written and directed by Gail Golec, is titled “A Long Weekend in New Hampshire.” This comedy, in four-self contained acts, offers entertaining vignettes of country life. Act I- Life in 4/4 Time, goes through the hectic life of a modern young family; Act II – The Funeral, shows a family coming together after a funeral and sharing old stories; Act III -The Farmstand, explores the events surrounding an ordinary day at the local vegetable stand; and Act IV- The Lumberman, The Farmer and The Fisherman, is the dramatic recitation of an epic poem (with footnotes).
Auditions will be held on April 1, 2, 3 at 7PM at the Helen Miller Theater in the Walpole Town Hall. There are a total of 28 parts available: male and female roles ranging in age from 20s to 80s, as well as two children’s parts, one boy, 10-12 years old and one girl, 13-16 years old. While this is not a musical, a background in, or familiarity with reading music would be helpful for some of the adult roles, and specifically for both of the children’s roles.
