SUMMER THEATER CAMP – Senior Class to Perform Friday, 18 July

You had better plan to attend the 3PM performance at the Walpole Town Hall on Friday, 18 July to see the cast of 24 “senior” theater campers perform an original play by Jim Skofield – X MARKS THE SPOT  (an international jewel-heist thriller set in Istanbul of the 1930’s).

X-8

The performance marks the completion of their two weeks of camp in the afternoons, and you will be amazed at the talent.  Just having watched yesterday’s rehearsal and then again watching (and taking almost 100 photographs) of today’s rehearsal I can say that I have been absolutely overwhelmed by the work and accomplishment of our young thespians.

Here is a gallery sampling of some of the images I took at today’s rehearsal.  Just click on any of them to open a slide show up.  And, if there are any that you would like the “raw” file for your own use, just let me know.  Please do plan on attending tomorrow to support our young actors and actresses, and to see the fine work that they have accomplished.

WALPOLE JUNIOR PLAYERS THEATER CAMP 2014

RP-19

The first week of The Walpole Players 5th Annual Summer Theater Camp, under the astute leadership of Jim Skofield and Carolyn Norback, concluded July 11th with the “junior students” (entering second through fourth grades) presenting RUMPELSTILTSKIN to an audience of proud parents, siblings, grandparents and friends.  The performance was narrated by two assistant counselors who, having completed years of theater camp, have entered high school and are no longer eligible to be a camper, but using their learned skills have moved on to assist Jim and Carolyn in conducting the camp.

Eighty percent of this group had never ever before performed on stage, but that was in no way obvious with the skill in which they performed and projected their stage presence.  The “senior group” (students entering fifth through eighth grades) have two weeks of camp, and will be presenting their performance at the end of camp on July 18th.

Here is a selection of the fifty images taken at today’s performance by Ray Boas.  Click on any of the image below to open the “slide show” to see them in larger size.  If there is any image file that you would like to have to use in any way, just contact Ray, and he will be happy to send you any of the full size raw files for you to use.

Remember to join the group this coming Friday and cheer on our budding thespians.

A LONG WEEKEND IN NEW HAMPSHIRES – Images from the 21 June 2014 Performance

And here are images taken during the second performance on Saturday, June 21, 2014.  Again, PLEASE NOTE – these are unedited, not cropped, not adjusted for available light exposure, etc. etc.  All easy “fixes” in Photoshop or your photo editing software, but considering the number of images I did not tackle that to save time and get these posted.

Enjoy looking, download what you want, and edit as you wish.  If there is an image you really want “fixed” and are technically challenged (so to speak) I will be happy to provide a “fixed image” when I have time.  Feel free to use, give me credit if you wish, but not necessary, enjoy, yours, RAY

A LONG WEEKEND IN NEW HAMPSHIRE – Dress Rehearsal 18 June 2014

Here are some un-cropped, and unedited images I took during dress rehearsal on 18 June 2014.  You are welcome to copy whatever you want and crop and manipulate in your own photo imaging software.  To save time in getting them to you I did not crop or edit the images here (except for a few used in the previous post, and to send to the press).  A few minor adjustments to color and tones in Photoshop will work wonders.  If there is something you really would like cropped/improved, but just cannot do it yourself, email me and I will try to get it done for you.  If you wish to say I took the photo, that is fine, but not necessary.  Enjoy, yours, RAY

PS — shortly I will do a similar post with images I took during the performance on Saturday, June 21, and then ask Gail to email the entire cast that they are posted.  Click on any image below to open the “slide show” and you can download any image and then edit as you wish.

AUDITION CALL FOR A LONG WEEKEND IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

ATTENTION!  Auditions will be held April 1, 2, and 3 for the Walpole Players’ production for Old Home Days 2014.  Performances will be the last two weekends in June.  This year’s play, written and directed by Gail Golec, is titled “A Long Weekend in New Hampshire.”  This comedy, in four-self contained acts, offers entertaining vignettes of country life.  Act I- Life in 4/4 Time, goes through the hectic life of a modern young family; Act II – The Funeral,  shows a family coming together after a funeral and sharing old stories; Act III -The Farmstand, explores the events surrounding an ordinary day at the local vegetable stand; and Act IV- The Lumberman, The Farmer and The Fisherman, is the dramatic recitation of an epic poem (with footnotes).

Auditions will be held on April 1, 2, 3 at 7PM at the Helen Miller Theater in the Walpole Town Hall.  There are a total of 28 parts available: male and female roles ranging in age from 20s to 80s, as well as two children’s parts, one boy, 10-12 years old and one girl, 13-16 years old. While this is not a musical, a background in, or familiarity with reading music would be helpful for some of the adult roles, and specifically for both of the children’s roles.

Please email Gail with any questions: grgolec@gmail.com, or call  603 852-9440.
